USA Water Ski is pleased to announce that Indmar Marine Engines has been named the title sponsor of the 2010 Division 1 Show Ski National Championships. The 36th annual Indmar Marine Engines Division 1 Show Ski National Championships will be held Aug. 13-15 at South Wood County Park on Lake Wazeecha in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.
Indmar Marine Engines has remained the world’s largest privately held manufacturer of gasoline powered inboard marine engines for more than 30 years. For more information, visit www.indmar.com.
“Indmar touches the lives of water skiers and families across the United States year after year,” said Steve Upp, USA Water Ski’s director of business development and partnerships. “Not only has Indmar changed the way the sport is powered, the company is a true believer in the athletes and has always made sure the athletes are funded through Indmar’s sponsorship.”
Hosted by the Aqua Skiers and the National Show Ski Association, the Show Ski Nationals will feature 14 teams and more than 1,500 athletes competing for the coveted show ski national title.
In competitive show skiing, each club has one hour to present a theatrical performance on water skis. Judges score the acts by awarding points based on execution, difficulty, spectator appeal and flow. Elaborate costumes and staging intermix with music and fast action on the water as an announcer leads the audience through the show. The Show Ski National Championships also features athletes competing individually in adagio doubles, swivel, freestyle jumping and multi-jumping acts. For the third consecutive year, the team competition on Saturday (Aug. 14) and Sunday (Aug. 15) will be available for viewing via a live Webcast. To view the Webcast, visit http://waterski.teamusa.org/live.
The National Show Ski Association is one of nine sport discipline organizations of USA Water Ski, which was formed in 1939 as a non-profit organization promoting water skiing in the United States. USA Water Ski is affiliated with the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (world governing body) and is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee and Pan-American Sports Organization as the national governing body of organized water skiing in the United States.
