Indmar Marine Engines 5.7L Assault 345 is Awarded the 2011 IBEX Innovation Award

Indmar Marine Engines, the world’s largest privately held manufacturer of gasoline powered inboard marine engines, announced today that the 5.7L Assault 345 has won the coveted 2011 International Boatbuilders Exhibition (IBEX) Innovation Award in the Inboard Marine Engine category. Organized by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and judged by members of Boating Writers International (BWI), the awards recognize innovative distinction from other products currently being manufactured that benefit the marine industry and consumers.

So what made Indmar stand out from the rest? Well, have you ever considered the wear and tear that an engine experiences from watersports that it powers? Think about wakesurfing and what happens to an engine when it’s completely tilted to one side. Now, imagine an inboard built to protect itself from the rugged watersports it powers every day.

The 5.7L Assault 345 leads the industry as the first inboard marine engine engineered to adapt to a drivers driving style and watersports lifestyle. The all new 5.7L Assault 345 features an air-oil separator device that adapts the engine to your driving style, while preventing oil induction into the PCV. From the ability to handle high g turns and steep boat angles to the oversized 7 quart oil pan with baffling, the all-new 5.7L Assault 345 is the first inboard marine engine built to protect itself from the rugged demands of the watersports it powers day after day.

“Wakesurfing is rapidly growing in popularity,” noted judge Brady Kay. “However, the strain on engines required proactive engineering to reduce engine failure. Indmar has a workhorse for rugged watersports.”

“Indmar Marine Engines has a pedigree going back 40 years in the inboard marine industry and a proud tradition of pointing the way forward,” said Chuck Rowe, President of Indmar Marine Engines. “Today, we couldn’t be more honored to receive this prestigious award for innovation as it represents our commitment to stay at the forefront of implementing and applying innovative technologies to enable watersports and the industry to progress and grow.“ Rowe further explained, “At Indmar, we believe in the strength of working with our vendors and partners to grow our respective businesses and receiving this award is a testament to that belief. I would like to acknowledge Supra and Moomba boats as part of this innovative achievement as their team was instrumental in the development of 5.7L Assault 345 and is exclusive to their brands.”

“The winners recognized at IBEX today are a testament to the ongoing commitment to boating ingenuity necessary to the future of our industry,” noted NMMA President Thom Dammrich. “It’s encouraging to see companies focus their efforts on forward-thinking solutions to help consumers and further the industry, and I’m excited to see how these products adapt in the market.”
