ROUSHcharged Raptor 575 by Indmar Awarded 2015 NMMA and BWI Innovation Award for the Inboard Category

Miami Beach, Fla. Feb 12, 2015 – Indmar Marine Engines, the worlds largest privately held manufacturer of gasoline inboard marine engines was honored today for innovative achievement by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and Boating Writers International (BWI) at the 2015 Miami International Boat Show during the State of the Recreational Boating Industry Breakfast, held this morning at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
Organized by the NMMA and judged by BWI, the award recognizes innovative distinction from other products currently being manufactured that benefit the marine industry and consumers; they must be cost-effective; offer practicality; and are available to consumers within 60 days of award receipt.

So what does the ROUSHCHarged Raptor 575 by Indmar have to offer that the others don’t?  For one, it is the first emissions certified catalyzed inboard to bring ROUSH Performance supercharging technology to the marine industry and it produces the most torque ever offered in a towboat; revolutionizing how boat builders will build new models from this point forward.

The innovative minds at Indmar spent more than 3-years, over 5,400 hours in extreme lab, durability and open water testing to deliver a breakthrough engine that will forever change the towed-watersports segment.  The all-new ROUSHCharged Raptor 575 provides innovative features that benefit the end user by making boating easier from operation to service and it’s backed with a 5-Year factory warranty.  It has more power that’s not only stronger, but also cleaner and more fuel-efficient than comparable supercharged offerings in its segment.

Indmar’s engineering team was able to marinize a block engineered for towing, Ford’s F-Series Super Duty® 6.2L.  However, in order to custom build a towsport specific inboard and adapt a block with overhead cams and dual plugs to the marine market, Indmar collaborated with wake and ski experts to design innovative towsport specific components to optimize, protect and adapt the engine to the rugged demands of watersports.

They also designed a superior non-traditional catalyst exhaust system that delivers the lowest emissions for a catalyzed supercharged engine in it’s segment, resulting in a safer, smoother and quieter boating experience. Then, they topped it off with high torque at low rpm ranges to provide torque where and when tow boats need it allowing for faster time to plane and increased loading.  But they didn’t stop there; they also added a suite of monitoring systems and intelligent components that make boating easier for the driver by constantly monitoring the driver’s conditions and driver input to optimize the performance and efficiency of the engine while adding an extra layer of protection. Watch Live Reveal

ORLANDO, Sept. 4, 2014 - Indmar Marine Engines unveiled the all-new Raptor Series today during a press conference with special guest from Ford and ROUSH Performance at the at the largest boardsports and lifestyle tradeshow in the world, Surf Expo. You can watch the ground breaking event that was filmed live by going to http://www.indmar.com/Experience/Announcement.aspx.

“For more than 43 years, Indmar has been focused on the future, introducing new innovations and technologies that have enabled the sport and the industry to grow,” explained Chuck Rowe, President of Indmar Marine Engines. “These innovations didn’t just change the way we power the boat, it changed the way we ski, wakeboard and surf behind the boat. And today, we are not only changing the game again with a revolutionary series of purpose built engines, we are giving birth to an all-new platform of inboard performance.“

To achieve a new level of advanced inboard performance, Team Indmar reinvented the inboard marine engine by incorporating technologies from marine, automotive and aerospace industries. Purposing building every component and feature specifically to address the evolution of today’s towboats, which have grown into larger, heavier boats with increased ballast and passenger capacities and goal of producing bigger wakes.

More than three years in the making with over 4,500 hours of extreme lab, durability and open water testing, the Raptor Series has proved itself under extreme loading and in more extreme conditions than you will ever likely to experience.

The all-new Raptor series is based off a proven workhorse, the Built Ford Tough® 6.2L 16-Valve SOHC V8 engine that was designed, engineered, built and torture-tested by Ford. The same state-of-the-art engine that powers the F-150 SVT Raptor and F-Series Super Duty Trucks that boast best-in-class gas horsepower, torque and max towing ratings.

With 3 engine configurations that host more engineering innovations than you can count on your fingers, the all-new Raptor Series stands apart from the competition. From the not so standard base engine with best in class torque and horsepower to the heavy weight champ they call the ROUSHcharged Raptor 575, consumers will find each engine in the series was built on a foundation engineered to last and backed with a full 5-year Factory Warranty—Indmar’s commitment to the quality, durability and reliability of the all-new Raptor Series.
These are just a few of the purpose built features premium standout features that come standard on each Raptor model in the series:
TORQUE CENTRIC PERFORMANCE
Best-in-class torque and horsepower at lower rpm ranges (2,500-3,500). The 6.2L Raptor Series is the result of purpose driven engineering designed to provide more torque where you need it to allow for increased loading of boats. Experience faster acceleration, less time to plane, reduced wear-and-tear and better fuel economy

LESS FUEL CONSUMPTION
Our computer controlled sequential firing multiport EFI system coupled with the additional control of wide-band air/fuel sensors and dual spark plugs makes for a leaner running engine which equates to better fuel economy and lower emissions. More time on the water and less time at the pump.

CLOSED COOLING
Helps maintain consistent engine temperatures contributing to better fuel economy and performance. Also prevents crank case condensation, ultimately eliminating corrosion leading to a longer engine life. Provides improved cabin heater performance.

TOWSPORT SPECIFIC MARINE OIL PAN AND PICK-UP TUBE
Designed to optimize oil pick-up at steep boat angles and high G turns. The purpose built marine oil pan takes away the worry of oil starvation by controlling how the oil moves around while towing all watersport disciplines.

RAPTOR PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (RPM)
In efforts to make boating easier for the driver, we have added a suite of monitoring systems that
enables the high-capacity ECM to reduce operator workload, as well as react precisely to driver
commands, we call it the Raptor Performance Management System (RPM).

DUAL SPARK PLUGS
Provides for more efficient combustion leading to increased fuel economy, reliability and cleaner emissions.

QUIET RIDE
The overhead cam engine design coupled with a cast iron engine block and exhaust manifolds makes for an engine that runs smoother and quieter. Experience a smooth purr instead of loud engine that prevents you from being able to hear one another when on the boat.

EMISSIONS BETTER THAN 4 STAR RATING
The combination of high-strength cast iron manifolds and our ultra quiet stainless steel tubular catalyzed exhaust is better at containing heat allowing the catalyst to perform with greater efficiency producing exhaust emissions that are better than the required 4 star rating.

SERVICEABILITY
The standard closed cooling system makes winterization a snap with self-draining manifolds and fewer components requiring water drain. With our easily accessible remote mounted oil filter, quick-drain oil system and hi-mounted oil fill, routine maintenance is painless. Our hi-mounted alternator, flame arrestor and fuse/relay box are not only easily accessible at the top of the engine but are under the engine’s beauty cover for extra protection. Dual, long-life spark plugs, not only improve combustion but also extend the spark plug service life to 300 hours.

CORROSION PROTECTION
Our 5-step state-of-the-art paint process, e-coated components and special coatings on non-paintable components keep the outside of the engine looking like new. The inside is protected by a standard, anode protected closed cooling system so there is no contact with corrosive environments. Components that do come in contact with corrosive environments are made of brass, copper stainless steel or cast iron to ensure longevity.
